Harley Quinn & the Joker - Rough games

Well, good evening! I'm in a wonderful mood as this is one of the most ambitious drawings I've done in a while, mixing media I thought I'd never use in paper, like acrylics... I was always afraid normal paper wouldn't stand it. It turns out I was wrong and it looks awesome!!!
On the top you can see a re-touched version, while the one on the left is a picture of the original drawing (I seriously need to by a scanner).

I wanted the pencil lines to remain so that's why I haven't painted over them. Also mixing media and styles was pretty fun ^^

Anyhow, I went to the cinema to watch "Suicide Squad" and I liked the soundtrack and Harley, of course, so on Friday afternoon I was listening to it when "Criminal" from Britney Spears came in... and this image came to my mind. So I sketched in the course of three or four repetitions of the song and decided I wanted to make something awesome with it... So I got crazy and coloured it, which you might know by now it isn't something I normally do.
I wanted Harley to look scared, but at the same time have a slight smile that she's almost forcing upon herself to show Joker she trusts him, whilst I wanted the Joker to have a sadistic look. The perspective was hard and not sure of it as I would have rather have the Joker to be slightly bigger that he came up to be, but I'm still pretty Ok with him.
I honestly hate the relationship of these two characters being romanticized, so she's got some cuts and bruises, not too many though as I didn't want to be gruesome, just enough to show he doesn't treat her nicely, and he should as she is slightly afraid of whether he'll hurt her with the knife or not.
Hher body and shadows were pretty fun to do, specially hands and feet are things I?m really happy with. I should point out that all of this came out of my head without needing any reference image... which made me pretty proud.
I enjoyed designing a new outfit for her as well.
I might do more of this in the future.
For the time being I hope you guys like it!! =)

Heroes VI - Juggernaut

Last one of this series. I had lots of fun with the muscles, which brings me to probably try and do more anatomy studies of muscle and tendons.
I'm quite pleased with the feet and the horns.

Heroes VI - Lacerator

I didn't enjoy this one too much. The spikes were a little bit of a pain, but the tendons and muscles once again were lots of fun, as the shadows, although they were quite hard to tell from the concept art. Cool-looking creature, but not my favourite at all.

Heroes VI - Succubus

I am nto happy with her body, but I enjoyed the hair a lot... I like drawing hair. The wings, which normally are lots of fun, are alright, but nothing too spectacular. I changed the face to make her look a little bit more intimidating. She also belongs to the Hell race.

Heroes VI - Maniac

Quick movements. I didn't want to spend too much time in the chains. The muscles were incredibly fun to draw. This creature is from the Hell race.
It's like a slim demon figure

Quick sketches

So this last Christmas (I know it´s been a while) I decided to check the concept art book I have from the game "Heroes of Might and Magic VI" searching for inspiration. In the past I've searched in this franchise for inspiration as well and my drawing of the Mermaid neutral creature has gotten me lots of views in this blog. So I thought to try something new and instead of trying to perfectly copy the drawings, I would do quick sketches of them changing what I felt I liked better some other way. That's what gave birth to the drawings you'll see in the upcoming posts.
By the way, do not buy "Heroes VI". It is a horrible game that has given me lots of headaches and the technical support team haven´t been of any help either. Play "Heroes IV", which is my favorite, or even "Heroes V" is OK, but do not even attempt it with 6. The animation is good and the design of the creatures looks neat, but that's all it's got.

Banshee - "Starcraft II"

I know this is more of a helicopter... plane-ish, aircraft machine, but I included it in the starships category because Starcraft doesn't always make it particularly easy to tell when you're in space and when on a place with atmosphere. I've always wanted to draw this, since I frist saw it. It looks amazing and it was a blast to draw it. This time my approach wasn't to make it neat, but the opposite. I went with dirty lines, played around with the pen as much as I could... and I love the end result, specially taking into account this drawing is based on a papercraft model someone posted on the internet and not a picture of the computer design.
I absolutely love this aircraft.

Turian Cruiser - "Mass Effect"

I started playing Mass Effect like a year ago, but I had to quit because I had to work on my final degree project. The first and second game were given to me by one of my best friends as a present, and a lot of people has told me I should play them because they're awesome. So I'll go back to them soon.
In the meanwhile, this is the ship a friend who asked me for the drawing of a ship for his room picked... I guess because he really likes Mass Effect.
For this I tried to take advantages of the dark shadows and use the straight lines to give that geometrical look. It's quite an interesting-looking ship. So when I first saw it I had to draw it. My friend seemed to like it a lot when I gave it to him.

Alice Madness Returns - Revision

Hey, hey, hey! Well, I'm pretty proud of this one, because of the change on perspective (my first attempt), the items I've drawn (I think I've never done a full set before, it was just characters, but never "decoration"), the character design and the proportions pretty much.
I was playing "Alice Madness Returns" while studying, so during my breaks in the library I started to draw this based on the game's character. As you can see there are some similarities, but I tried to make an original design of the dress and also of the things I've drawn surrounding her, that try to represent each of the things you might find in Wonderland.
It was so much fun mixing different media:
Corset's details are done with a blue fountain-pen, while the hair and he eye-browns were done with black pen, the boots, eye-lashes and gloves are done with a black Chinese gel-pen (not that the origin matters, but I found it on the floor one day and it's got Chinese writing on it, so I found it interesting), red and blue details with JANUS 2160 Faber-Castell, and all the other colours with mechanical pencil (with colour mines), and the shadows were all done with either 2B or 3B pencil.

Alice Madness Returns - Hysteria

So... a year ago I started playing "Alice Madness Returns" and quit after getting stocked in a part where I was dying every single time. Then I started last weekend to play again because of a friend, who showed interest on the game. I loved the hysteria skin the moment I saw it, although all the skins in this game are pretty neat. Honestly, the whole game appearance is awesome, but it's not exactly the kind of game I like. I think I play it for the story and the graphics actually.
Anyhow, I did this little sketch based on the Hysteria Skin from Alice. I hope you like it. I had a lot of fun with the blood

Black Rock Shooter

So, this is a drawing I made of Black Rock Shooter, but I didn't copy any existent drawing, so that's why it's labelled as "Original Drawing" and "Out of other drawings". I watch the OVA and the series this week, and I've fallen in love with this character. I don't know why, but it's got a lot of power, and so does the song it inspired. So that's why I had to draw her.
This drawing is awful, I know. I don't do manga. So this is a mixture of styles, and you can see where my flaws are: the hair, specially the ponytail to the right, the face, and the foot to the left. So, basically, I didn't fake good enough the manga style and the perspective sucks. Funny thing is that it wasn't meant to be an elaborated drawing, and that's why I post it: because it turned out better than I expected. A proof of how little faith I had on it is the fact that it was made at the back of some notes from last semester. You can still see what's written on the other side of the sheet.
Anyhow, this is what came to my mind while listening to the song and watching the images. So I hope you appreciate that it was just an experiment, although I might try to make an adaptation to my style of Black Rock Shooter. I don't know, I'm a little obsessed with the character now.

Stracraft II - Jim Raynor

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the most challenging drawing by pencil I've done in my life so far. The funny thing is that the reason behind it being so complicated is the fact that it might be the most realistic portrait I've done so far with the sweat and specially all the wrinkles  It's funny because it's not even a real person o r a picture, but it's a pencil drawing of a computer drawing. Although if you thing about it, this is Jim Raynor plain an simple, while actors and such have always make up to cover the imperfections and their pictures might even have been through a little photoshopping. Actually, I think this is the first time I draw wrinkles and  my second attempt to draw beard. By the way, I went a little bit crazy on the hair and it isn't like on the original because for some reason if I didn't do a little on my own it looked fake.
He's Jim Raynor, one of my friend's favourite character from "Starcraft". So I made this drawing for him on his birthday and I wanted to be very accurate because this is one of my best friends right now. I hope you like it because, guys, I'm soooo proud of this one you can't even imagine. I wanted to draw it for so long, and I finally got the excuse.
By the way, notice that the hardest drawing is still the Apollo V, that was made by pen, and the hardest art project is, and probably will always be because of its complexity and time I had to spare on it, the Pan from "Pan's Labyrinth" made by acrylics.

Made with: H2 (sketch), HB and Mechanical Pencil (details on helmet), B2 (shadows on helmet and face, features, sweat, any type of hair...), B3 (eyes, little touches on the eye-browns), B5 (thick shadows inside helmet), and Janus 2160 (hologram and blue details).

KARA- finished

And finally she's finished. I had troubles with the scanner. Enough troubles for not being too happy with the result (have you notice a side is lighter than the other?). I love this drawing because of the neck, mouth and the face itself. The eyelashes were hard, and so were the eyes because she had them in a way that looked unnatural in paper.

KARA more defined

Well, now she's got eyes. I've marked where the face ends, and I've changed a little the mouth

League of Legends - Nocturne

I made this to a friend for his birthday. I'm not too happy with the result, but taking in account I don't usually use colour pencils and I didn't have the exact colours to make it, it's not bad. I updated a picture of the drawing, which is the best I could get since I gave it to him today. I hope you like it

KARA

I want to apologyce, but until I get access to a scan this is the best I can give you. I'll finish it when I pass my german exam, which is Thursday. Hope you'll like it once it's finished.

"Kara" by Quantic Dream

Please allow me introduce you to my new project: KARA. I saw her story, and I had to draw her. Not only like this, but with different expressions. It's going to be tough, but I'm up for it (it's tough because it's neither a drawing, nor a picture, it's half way in between).
As I said I don't have access to a scan yet, so I'll be uploading photos taken by my camera of my drawings of KARA. I hope you like them. So far I've only done the sketch, but once I pass my German exam I'll finish this drawing.

Heroes VI - Mermaid

This Mermaid is a present fro my followers. She is from a game called "Heroes of Might and Magic VI", and inspired the other two original drawings I uploaded of mermaids. I hope you like the touches of red I kept from the original and how I played with the scan's contrast so the whole drawing would look darker, which seemed to suit this mermaid. I love the looks of her.
So, why a present? I'm no longer in Spain. I'm in Germany with an ERASMUS scholarship. I made this before leaving for my parents to have a little present from me when they returned home from the airport, and I scanned so you might have it as well. So I won't be able to upload new drawings for a long time because I won't have an access to a scan for the new drawings I may make. I know I usually don't update that much, and maybe nobody really cares, but I know there is at least a couple of people who do follow my blog even f it doesn't show on the "Followers list" (Yes, I know it is empty). For those who don't know me, but like my drawings I'll still upload some old drawings now and then (some that I scanned before leaving my home), and I may try to either find a scan in my university (I'm sure there must be one somewhere, I just don't know where yet) or maybe take pictures o with my camera of the drawings I make and update those. They won't be as good as a scan, but it will be something until I get to go home and scan the pictures and update them.
I hope you like this Mermaid. I love how she is somehow terrifying.
