Making of Mrs Brisby

Doing this with acrylic was quite fun, from drawing the design in a piece of paper, to painting the layers, doing shadows, lines and the thorns to decorate around it. Loved it!

The Secret of NIMH - Mrs Brisby

Mother´s day was yesterday. Mrs. Brisby from "The Secret of NIMH" represents motherhood at its finest, and it's one of my mother's old time favorite movies. Together with the fact that my nickname is "Rat" at home, this made the perfect gift for this day. She liked it a lot and I myself am pretty pleased with how it turned out.
I did some green "thorns" around the edges of the box to decorate it a little bit.
Using acrylic is awesome, giving you quite vivid colors to play with. I'm glad I decided to make this.

Message container

August 17th 2015 I gave this to a friend with an "official apology" inside it because he showed me around Bath, a city he had praised for a long time and I had questioned his words. The letter itself was easy enough, but I wanted the container to be quite something. I basically wanted to show off and achieve that objective I believe. The seal is from my hometown and it was made with paper while the rest is made with cardboard sewn together and with some glue in strategic places just in case. I broke two needles doing this and my fingers were quite sore after a whole afternoon, but I was pretty pleased with the final product. Although, as always, I felt I overdid it a little bit, but I like to do stuff like this every once in  while for friends.

Fokker Dr. 1 - Manfred Von Richthofen's plane

Instead of drawing a plane, I decided to try a 3D version on paper. I didn't use a template or anything. I picked up some pictures as reference and with paper, a glue bar and patience I built this. It's able to stand on it's own and can be folded to be in a pop-up card, which was my original intention.
I've always liked WWI planes... specially the Fokker Dr1 because of "Flying Corps Gold", a computer flight simulator I used to play when I was little.

Jigsaw Doll - "SAW"

I worked on this guy for a week and a half or so for a friend's Halloween party. The idea being to put it on the entrance to greet people and help people to get into the mood for the party.
I' like to take a moment to say that although I gave the idea for this and volunteered to do it, I absolutely hate this doll. I find the movies boring and discussing, and therefore this doll, being a symbol of the saga, is something I had little fun doing. Why did I make it? Because I thought I could make it cool and it would help decorate this friend's house, a friend that was taking great care in making everyone have an awesome time at his house for not reason other than make people happy. I wanted to help as much as possible to such noble goal, and I did more stuff, but I cannot post it here because it would include pictures of his house.

I'll post later a small tutorial of how I did this doll. However, let me tell you I think it could have been done much better. I had little time and as I said I hated this doll since the beginning.

Cowboy Bebop - Spike Spiegel

I made this bookmark for a very special friend who talked me into watching this anime... and I loved it. I knew this was his favorite character (and probably mine) so I drew this based on different pictures and even screenshots of the show. It was pretty fun to do.

Cowboy Bebop - Swordfish II

So, believe it or not, this is a top I did for myself with an old t-shirt and some material paint... I absolutely love this ship. So of course I needed to do something cool like this, it only happens every once in a while that I find something I really want to do for myself artistically and this was one of those times. It turned out OK, although I am not entirely proud because of one of the wings..., but close enough. I've worn it a couple of times and I love it!!
I used this image and another I can't find anymore on google (I swear I've tried) as a reference for this.

Ergo Proxy - Pino

She's my favorite character from the anime... so I've always wanted to draw her since I started watching it. I made this bookmark for a friend as a gift because Pino was also his favorite character and we both enjoyed watching "Ergo Proxy" when we were in Stuttgart (he was the one who introduced me to it).
I hope you guys like it. It's based on the image that appears in the intro, but I tried to use the colors that she has during the anime instead of the strong contrast she shows in the intro. I used other images as reference for the bottom and the back.

"Stuffed Chicken"

This was one of the Art Projects I had when I was in Hebron High School (2008). I had never sewed more than two pieces of material when I was 5 to make a dress for my doll (yes, I once did that). So this was, as pretty much any kin of art project I did that year, a challenge because I was learning while doing this project. It was based on the food my mother  makes for Christmas and then I adapted it to my abilities and the medium I had (I chose material because I was pretty confident I'd be able to learn how to sew properly).
So basically, we have here a chicken in a wooden table, baby carrots, cut potatoes, little onions, and pieces of bread in a basket. All needed to be of the same material you've chosen to be your medium, so that's why it was also hard to do, specially the damned basket.

Beer for Cris, Vidal and Iago

So we did a "piƱata" with the shape of a beer for three friends whose birthday party was this last weekend. This is the detail of the "glass" label, that I drew with pencil and coloured with a marker, while a friend of mine passed with a black pen over the pencil lines.

We also made cards with different beer logos for a memory card game. I did the drawing by pencil and a friend of mine coloured it with markers

This is to show how crazy we got in these last Birthdays, and I need to thank my friend Angel for helping me with these because he saved me quite a lot of time colouring them for me

Saturn V (Apollo XI) for Kit

Never, ever again I'm doing this crap. It took me more than I expected to complete this replica of the Apollo V rocket that took mankind for the first time to the moon, and I'm so done with it. It took to much time, although he liked it a lot. I guess that was a reward.

Here it's the finished look when I put together all the pieces with all the characteristics and all parts labelled. Of course I took this information out of a poster that I found in the Internet. Before I started this drawing I had no idea about any of these things. Well, actually, a funny thing to say is that I did knew most of the technical words because of "Star Trek"
